Alphabetical Listing of All Databases

For access to most databases you will need a USERNAME and PASSWORD. A pamphlet is available in the LRC which contains that information.

  • American Government
    Connect with the most talked about issues of the day with the foundations of government. Includes daily UPI Washington news, political commentaries, videos, quotes, primary source documents, and comparisons with other nations.
  • Ancient World History
    Covers human history from all corners of the globe. Current events features reveal connections between the present and the past.
  • Modern World History
    The evolution of modern Europe since the Renaissance, concurrent developments in Asia, Africa, and the Islamic world, the global impact of the Industrial Revolution, and the last hundred years of conflict and cooperation.
  • American History
    Explores the ongoing development of the U.S. from 1350-present.
  • World Geography
    Focuses on the geographic, political, social, economic, and cultural forces that influence our world. Compare country profiles and demographics, and read in-depth stories revolving around current international issues.
  • Issues
    Offers context, perspectives, scholarship and deep reference content on the most controversial issues of today to develop a true understanding of how society is shaped by controversy.

AccessScience contains more than 7,100 articles, 115,000 dictionary terms and hundreds of Research Updates in all areas of science and technology. Access Science also contains 2,000 biographies of scientists and mathematicians, Web sites related to the main articles and an Image Gallery.

AccuNet Ap Multimedia Archive is a searchable database of photographs.

American National Biography has more than 18,000 articles about famous Americans no longer living. Many articles include helpful Web links.

AMICO Library--The Art Collection is an online image collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, textiles, costumes, jewelry and more, from earliest times to the present. Approximately 54,000 images are available, many from Ohio institutions.

Annals of American History contains more than 2,000 primary source documents and 700 pieces of multimedia from Encyclopaedia Britannica. Resources are searchable by author, keyword timeline or topic.

Biography Resource Center provides biographies of people in the areas of literature, science, multicultural studies, business, entertainment, politics, sports, government, history, and the arts. The Biography Resource Center contains more than 422,000 biographies on more than 335,000 people from around the world and throughout history.

Country Reports contains cultural, historical and statistical information about countries.

Culture Grams provides information about different cultures such as recipies, pictures, stories and customs.

EBSCOhost delivers articles from more than 6,000 magazines and newspapers--most in full text. The Student Research Center for grades 9-12 specifically brings information from magazines, newspapers, and transcipts from television and radio programs.

Electric Library provides full-text articles from magazines, newspapers, television and radio programs. It also has a vast collection images, video and sound clips.

Enciclopedia Universal en Español is a comprehensive encyclopedia in the Spanish language containing articles, dictionary entries, photos and images as well as maps and tables.

Encylopaedia Britannica contains three encyclopedias with more than 100,000 articles, atlas, dictionary, images and video clips, reviewed Web sites, magazine articles and more.

INFOhio contains a vast number of state funded resources for students, teachers and parents. INFOhio is a launching point for access to many of the databases featured on this page.

Learning Express Library contains more than 100 programs to learn, practice and prepare for tests on a variety of subjects.

Learning Literature
View Poets on screen, use the online reference shelf, use the study page index, search for authors, criticism, essays, review KnowledgeNotes of the most popular texts, browse through multimedia resources or literary works. It’s a one stop shop to everything literature related!

Literature Online contains full-text, searchable works available online to supplement a library's print collections. Poetry, drama and fiction are included. The search engine allows searches across all 15 collections.

LitFINDER contains full-text works of literature. More than 125,000 poems, thousands of stories, scholarly essays, plays and important speechs.

NewsBank Newspapers provides a collection of 30 full-text newspapers available online; more than 15 titles are Ohio publications. Several Special Reports focus on current topics by gathering articles and images from additional sources.

Ohio Career Information System provides information on occupations, schools, scholarships, the IDEAS Career and Assessment tool and more!

Opposing Viewpoints contains thousands of articles on many different topics. The articles offer differing opinions on controversial topics.

Oxford Reference Online contains more than 130 complete reference titles, fully indexed and cross-searchable, from a wide range of disciplines, as well as Web sites and timelines.

SIRS Discoverer Deluxe provides a database of full-text magazine and newspaper articles for the young researcher. Students can read stories, learn about important people, find fun projects to do, use maps and pictures, find country and state facts, and much more. There's even a dictionary and a thesaurus.

Thomson Gale Databases contains 5 databases: Professional Collection, Plain Dealer, Virtual Reference Library, Opposing Viewpoints and Student Resource Center - Gold which offers easy access to award-winning content based on national curriculum standards. Covering all core curriculum areas, including history, literature, science, social studies, and more, SRC - Gold provides a premium selection of reference material, more than 1,100 full-text periodicals and newspapers, primary sources, creative works, and multimedia, including hours of video and audio clips and podcasts.

Today’s Science
Science news written especially for students! View headlines, search the news bank, study issues and controversies, browse research topic ideas or the research center, and more.

World Data Analyst offers detailed statistical comparisons of 217 countries around the world, using both recent statistics and historical figures. Students can create tables and charts and can export the data into a spreadsheet for additional work.
